Hazy Battered Tilapia Tacos
I think fish tacos are probably one of my top three favorite meals. This was a super simple and delicious way to make the best tacos ever.
What you need:
Serving size 3 people
1 package of Trader Joe’s Tilapia (or two filets)
2 table spoons of chili lime seasoning
1 lemon
1 1/4 cup of Hazy IPA beer
1 bag of beer battered flour (can be found at Safeway, pavilions, Whole Foods etc)
2 cups of canola oil (or can cook in air fryer for healthier option)
Shredded cabbage mixture
1 lime
Desired tortillas
For the sauce:
1/2 cup of sour cream
1 lime
1 table spoon of chili lim seasoning
Directions:
Cut the tilapia long ways into quarters, and then cut the quarters into halves
Squeeze lemon juice over the tilapia and then top with 2 table spoons of chili lime seasoning on both sides, allow to marinate for 30 minutes
Pour beer into batter mix, and mix until smooth
On stove top heat oil on medium heat, and once hot, dip the fish in the batter mix and then into the oil for about 3-5 minutes depending on the size of the fish cut
Only do a few pieces of fish at a time so they do not touch in the oil
Set aside on an absorbent towel or rack so that the oil can drain off the fish - if you chose to use air fryer, heat at 390 for 7 minutes, making sure to flip not shake when you are rotating
Combine all ingredients for the sauce, squeezing the lime juice into the sour cream, and mix evenly
On a tortilla set some sauce down, then the cabbage, and then lay the fish onto topping with more sauce and desired salsas or additional toppings
Serve and enjoy!
